Pedro Mendes ended his position at VBI at the end of 2013.

After 13 years working for Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, Pedro Mendes has now ended his appointment there. From 2000 to 2007, Pedro was a full time faculty member at VBI (Assistant and then Associate Professor). Since 2007 he had only a 20% appointment. At the end of 2013 that appointment ended.

While at VBI, Pedro led many grant-funded projects, the last one being an NIGMS grant for the COPASI software. This grant will continue, with Dr. Stefan Hoops taking the leadership, while Pedro will be joint PI (as an adjunct).

Pedro leaves VBI with great memories, having taken part in the build up of the institute (such as helping desing two buildings). Pedro joined VBI in August 2000, barely a month after the Institute started. When he left he was the oldest staff member of the Institue.

Pedro will continue his appointment at the University of Manchester and will take up another part-time appointment at the University of Connecticut Health Center. More news about this will follow...
